JORDAN, Guimaras – Sixty-eight inmates of the Jordan District Jail in Barangay San Miguel here got their first dose of the vaccine against coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).

The vaccination was conducted on Nov. 5. A team of vaccinators from the Provincial Health Office (PHO) visited the jail.

Prior to inoculation, the PHO briefed the inmates on the importance of the COVID-19 vaccine as protection against the coronavirus.

The provincial government hopes to vaccinate 3,378 persons daily to achieve herd immunity by Dec. 15.

The target population for vaccination is 130,908 Guimarasnons.

As of Nov. 3, 33,870 Guimarasons were fully vaccinated while 42,382 were waiting for their second dose to be considered as fully vaccinated, too.

Gov. Samuel Gumarin wanted the vaccination hastened, thus he deployed vaccinators to the barangays.
