BACOLOD City – A total of 68,000 bags will be distributed to public school pupils in this capital city.
Each of the bags contains school supplies – notebooks, pencils, ball pens, and a ruler – worth P169, according to Mayor Evelio Leonardia.
On Friday Leonardia led the distribution of 6,000 bags in Banago Elementary School-I, Banago Elementary School-II, Bata Elementary School-I, and Bata Elementary School-II.
More school supplies will be distributed to other schools in the city this week, the mayor added.
The school supply distribution was in accordance with an ordinance approved in 2016, which aims to provide free educational materials to all public elementary pupils.
The city government has a P16-million budget for the project but Leonardia said they saved “so much” that only P11 million was spent./PN
