ILOILO – For the first time in history of its local government unit (LGU), Concepcion town was recognized as among the municipalities in the country with the highest year-on-year growth in locally-sourced revenue for fiscal year 2018-2019.

Concepcion ranked sixth, according to the Bureau of Local Government Finance (BLGF).

Sang tuig 2018, may P16.3 million income kita and pag-abot sang 2019, nag-P32.8 million na. More than double ang increase or 101.1 percent,” Mayor Raul Banias told Panay News.

Locally- or internally-sourced income refers to tax revenues from real property, business and other local taxes; and non-tax receipts from fees and charges, government business operations, and other miscellaneous income.

According to Banias, there was an increase in their locally-sourced revenues due to the “efficient and active collection” of real property tax by the Municipal Treasurer’s Office, Local Economic Enterprise Office, Assessor’s Office, and the Business Permit Processing Office.

Banias said his employees’ competence in taking charge of business permits was one of the reasons why more people were interested to invest in their municipality.

“We are quite fortunate also because Concepcion hosts the biggest investment sa province of Iloilo which is the PCPC (Palm Concepcion Power Corp.), our biggest taxpayer,” the mayor added.

Banias also underscored the income being generated from its fish port as a “big contributing factor.”

“We are very proud,” Banias said. “I cannot entirely claim credit. This is an LGU achievement nga gina-share ko gid sa tanan nga officials and sa mga pumuluyo. Bangod sang proactive tax campaign sang aton employees, nagataas man ang aton income.”
