BACOLOD City — Seven players officially joined the lineup of Ceres–La Salle football club.
They were defender/midfielder Juan Luis Aldeguer Guirado, defender Jason Abbott Abantoa Sabio, forward Nathaniel Burkey, attacking midfielder Paul De la Cruz Mulders, winger Jeffrey Mallen Christiaens, midfielder Manuel Gelito Ott, and forward Adrian Gallardo Valdes.
They were expected to beef up the team for the FA League Cup that will start on Sept. 20 at the Rizal Stadium in Manila.
Guirado will serve as team captain and Louie Michael Casas of Bago City as co-team captain.
The new recruits, except for Mulders, attended the ceremonial signing of contract with Ceres–La Salle yesterday at Bar21 here. It was not immediately known why Mulders was not around.
This coming Saturday, Ceres–La Salle will face Pachanga Diliman football club in the opening main match at 8:15 p.m.
Stallion FC will face Philippine Army earlier at 2:15 p.m., while Manila Jeepney football club will clash with Green Archers United Globe at 5:15 p.m.
Ceres–La Salle claimed the 2nd Division title in style, losing only a single match en route to 17 wins and three draws.
The Bacolod City-based football powerhouse has a new head coach in Cha Soungyooung.
Former head coach Ali Bernard Go is now the new club director. Ian Treyes and Jason Cordova serve as assistant coaches./PN
