ILOILO City – The city’s seven districts have elected its respective Association of Barangay Captains (ABC) presidents.
They are:
* Barangay Captain Rodel Mamon of Ungka, Jaro district
* Barangay Captain Ruby Ann Geanga of Banuyao, La Paz district
* Barangay Madonna Martin of Concepcion, City Proper district
* Barangay Captain Rico Francis Acap of Mohon, Arevalo district
* Barangay Captain Ariel Mirar of Hibao-an Norte, Mandurriao district
* Barangay Captain Lee Quimsing of West Habog-Habog, Molo district
* Barangay Captain Arniel Asturias of Punong, Lapuz district
Of the seven, Quimsing was the only one reelected in the position while the six others are new ABC presidents.
Meanwhile, Barangay Captain Irene Ong of President Roxas, City Proper, the incumbent president of the city ABC, said she would still be supported in the same position by Mayor Jerry Treñas.
Ong has recently announced that she will be running again for second term as ABC president, adding that her decision is already final.
“Mapadalagan ta liwat kay para nga maka-serbisyo liwat sa mga barangay kapitan kag at the same time, makabulig man kay Mayor,” Ong said in an interview with Bombo Radyo Iloilo.
Ong ran unopposed during the Oct. 30 barangay elections.
Jonathan Sayno, Election Assistant II of the Commission on Elections (Comelec)-Iloilo City, said the Department of Interior and Local Government will lead the elections of ABC and Sangguniang Kabataan Federation presidents.
He added there’s no schedule yet for the elections in the city./PN
