BACOLOD City – Residents of seven households in five villages in La Carlota City, Negros Occidental has been banned from travelling after they breached coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) quarantine protocols.
Mayor Rex Jalando-on confirmed this development in a statement posted on Facebook on Monday afternoon.
All members of these households have been placed under monitoring and have not been allowed to go out of their homes since last week.
Jalando-on said the “lockdown” has been imposed as he does not tolerate the actions of violators which put the residents of his city at a serious health risk.
“The order was handed over to the (village chiefs) for enforcement in their (respective) jurisdictions,” he said.
Of the seven restricted households, three are in Barangay Batuan and one each are in Barangay 3, San Miguel, Cubay and Balabag.
The households were placed under a lockdown after their members who returned from outside this province did not present travel authority, medical clearance certificate, or undergo the prescribed quarantine period with the city and virus testing.
The lockdown will remain in effect until the required quarantine period ends and the COVID-19 testing has been carried out among the household members.
“The erring individuals ignored and violated the health and safety protocols prescribed by various issuances of the local government which put their households at risk of exposure to COVID-19,” Jalando-on said in the statement.
As part of its health protocols, the La Carlorta city government requires all persons coming from outside this province to be quarantined at the city-designated facility for seven days, after which they are tested for COVID-19.
“If they have negative results, they will be sent home to undergo a ‘home quarantine’ for another seven days,” the city’s public health advisory said.(With a report from PNA/PN)
