BACOLOD City – In just one day of operation across Negros Occidental, various police units were able to arrest seven individuals engaged in illegal cockfighting.
In Sagay City’s Barangay Poblacion 2, two persons were apprehended around 10:30 a.m. on Dec. 27.
They were Jonathan Grande, 41, and Apolinario Canoy, 54, – both residents of the village.
On the same day, policemen of Himamaylan City apprehended three suspects in Barangay Nabalian around 11:50 a.m.
Police identified them as Rommel Tingson, 51, of Barangay Paglaum, Binalbagan town; Raymund Basi, 44, also of Barangay Paglaum; and Paquito Becas Jr., 40, of Sitio Taytay Tanate in Barangay Aguisan, Himamaylan.
At around 2 p.m., two men were nabbed in Talisay City’s Barangay Matab-ang.
They were resident Richard Mayagma, 24, and Rogelio Balsomo Sr., 74, of Barangay Caduhaan, Cadiz City.
Recovered from the suspects were game fowls, different gaffs and bet money.
They were all detained and charged with violation of Presidential Decree 449, or the Cockfighting Law of 1974./PN
