BACOLOD City – Seven police officers whom the No. 1 illegal drug suspect in Negros Island Region tagged to the drug trade were reassigned in the Philippine National Police national headquarters.

They were relieved from their respective posts under the Police Regional Office 18, said spokesperson Chief Inspector Dianne Grace Catedral.

Effective Feb. 6, the following officers were designated at the Personnel Holding and Accounting Unit (PHAU) of the Directorate for Personnel and Records Management at Camp Crame in Quezon City:

* Senior Inspector Ser Ulrick Christian Ebdane Gelera

* Senior Police Officer 1 Noel Satuya Capablanca

* Senior Police Officer 1 May Amar Lumawag

* Police Officer 3 Rey Concepcion Villanueva

* Police Officer 3 Dareen Ann Torres Aguas

* Police Officer 3 Tony Dela Cruz Hechanova

* Police Officer 3 Gilbert Fidel Alunan

They were named in an affidavit filed by Ricky Serenio, who disclosed how he and a drug lord he worked for struck deals with the police and other law enforcement agents to secure protection.

Before this, Aguas was assigned at the Bacolod City Police Office, while the others were at the regional PHAU. Meanwhile, Gelera was enrolled at the National Police Training Institute in Silang, Cavite, Catedral said.

Including the seven, 41 Negros police officers have been sacked due to their alleged involvement in drugs since last year.

Most of them were transferred to police units in the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao and the Cordillera Administrative Region.

All “narco-cops” will be slapped with administrative charges, Chief Superintendent Renato Gumban had said.

In a related development, Gumban said the Negros police asked the court to let them take Serenio in custody. The suspect was now under the safekeeping of the police station in Pulupandan, Negros Occidental.

If the request is granted, Serenio will be detained in the custodial facility of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group at the Negros police headquarters, Gumban said.

Serenio, alleged bagman of the Berya drug group, was arrested on Jan. 8 in Talisay City. He was wanted for grave coercion./PN
