BACOLOD City – Around 700 officials and employees at city hall in La Carlota, Negros Occidental had undergone drug test.
Drug Check Philippines, Inc. administered the surprise test under close supervision by the La Carlota City police station.
Mayor Luis Jacky Jalandoni III and Vice Mayor Rex Jalando-on led the drug testing at the La Carlota City Gymnasium on Tuesday.
Jalandoni said they are supporting the Duterte administration’s antidrug campaign and want to show that La Carlota is a drug-free city.
It was also in line with theCivil Service Month celebration, said the mayor.
Those who were not around for the drug test will have to explain to the mayor why there were absent, said Jalando-on.
The results of the test will be released in two weeks.
Jalando-on hopes no one from the city government will testpositive.
Among government officialsand employees, testing positive for drug use is a ground for suspension or termination, subject to provisions of the Labor Code of the Philippines and the Civil Service law, local officials said./PN
