72 Bacolodnon OFWs from Afghanistan return home

BACOLOD City – This city has repatriated a total of 72 overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) affected by the conflict in Afghanistan.

They were primarily skilled workers hired by American and Chinese companies, according to Councilor Israel Salanga, chairman of the Action Team on Returning OFWs (ATRO) here.

These OFWs are currently processing their financial assistance from the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration.

They are among the 11,000 OFWs who have returned to this city since the outbreak of coronavirus disease 2019. Thirty percent of the 11,000 have already returned to their places of employment.

The repatriation program is still ongoing, with an average of 15 OFWs arriving daily, Salanga said./PN
