ANTIQUE – Citing the surge in dengue cases, Mayor Gian Carlo Occeña of Sibalom town ordered 76 barangays to hold a synchronized cleanup of surroundings today beginning at 6 a.m.
In Memorandum Order No. 2022-07-VII, he also ordered synchronized spraying against dengue mosquitoes the day after the cleanup.
Who should participate? All barangay officials, residents, member-beneficiaries of the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps) and Aksyon Barangay Kontra Dengue (ABKD) of every village.
Occeña listed the following to be done:
* cleaning of household and community surroundings including canals, esteros, and creeks
* getting rid of stagnant water and other mosquito-breeding sites such as tins, open cans, tires, bottles, etc.
* conducting measures to prevent water stagnation
* establishing compost pit for biodegradable waste
* segregating waste properly and strictly prohibiting the burning of solid waste
Data from the Antique Provincial Health Office (APHO) for Morbidity Week 25 (June 13 to June 25) showed Sibalom recording 30 new dengue cases./PN
