MANILA – Philadelphia 76ers bucked a slow start to score a 129-112 victory over Washington Wizards in Game 5 of the NBA Eastern Conference first-round playoffs series on Wednesday at the Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
Seth Curry anchored the 76ers offense with 30 points, while Tobias Harris tallied 28 points, nine rebounds, and six assists as the 76ers wrapped up their best-of-seven first-round series at 4-1.
Ben Simmons scored 19 points, 11 assists, and 10 rebounds, while Tyrese Maxey, Dwight Howard, and Fukuan Korkmaz added 13, 12, and 10 markers for the 76ers.
With the win, the 76ers secured a ticket to the East’s semifinals and will face Atlanta Hawks.
In the opening half, the 76ers leaned on baskets from Simmons, Harris, and Curry to take a 65-63 halftime advantage after a three-pointer shot from Daniel Green.
Philadelphia dominated the second half behind Harris, Simmons, and Curry to have a 103-92 edge, which stretched to 128-107 on a Maxey basket.
Bradley Beal top-scored with 32 points, Russell Westbrook got 24 points, 10 assists, and eight rebounds, while Rui Hachimura posted 21 points for the Wizards.
Meanwhile, the Hawks finished their Eastern Conference first-round series with the New York Knicks at 4-1 with a 103-89 domination in Game 5.
Trae Young dropped with 36 points and nine assists, DeAndre Hunter contributed 15 markers, while Clint Capela had a double-double of 14 points and 15 rebounds for the Hawks.
On the other hand, Utah Jazz advanced to the Western Conference semifinals after beating Memphis Grizzlies in Game 5, 126-110.
Dallas Mavericks, for its part, moved closer to the next round after a 105-100 win over the Los Angeles Clippers in Game 5 of their Western Conference first-round series. Luka Doncic led the Mavs with 42 points and 14 assists.
