GUIMARAS – The recovery rate in coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) here is a high 78.93 percent.
Out of 1,932 confirmed cases as of Aug. 31, 1,525 have fully recovered, according to the provincial government.
On the other hand, 64 died (3.31 percent).
Meanwhile, Guimaras’ 343 active cases (as of Aug. 31) were in the towns of Buenavista (98), Nueva Valencia (96), Jordan (88), San Lorenzo (33), and Sibunag (28).
Of these, 250 were in quarantine facilities, 79 on home quarantine, four were hospitalized in Iloilo City, four in Iloilo City’s quarantine facilities, and one on home quarantine in Iloilo City.
On Aug. 31, too, Guimaras recorded 56 new cases (all local transmission). These were in Buenavista (22), Nueva Valencia (14), Jordan (140), San Lorenzo (seven), Sibunag (seven), and Jordan (six).
“One possible reason kon ngaa nagsaka ang aton cases is ang paggwa kag sulod sang mga workers from other provinces sang Region 6,” said Vice Gov. John Edward Gando.
The provincial government allows essential travel.
Gando urged Guimarasnons to stay at home and go out only when extremely necessary to avoid contracting or spreading COVID-19.
They should also constantly practice the minimum public health standards (wearing of facemask and face shield in public, observing physical distancing and proper hand washing)./PN
