ILOILO – Seventy-nine job seekers were hired on the spot (HOTS) during the 2023 Kalayaan Job Fair in Bacolod City on Monday, June 12.
Of the 79 HOTS, 78 job seekers were hired for local employment and one for employment abroad.
Further, 210 aspirants were “near hires” and only needed to submit additional documents and/or undergo a final interview.
Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) regional director Atty. Sixto Rodriguez Jr. commended those hired, nearly hired job, and all participants.
He also advised the near hires to immediately process the requirements for their employment.
Over 9,000 openings were offered by 59 employer.
Aside from the job fair, help desks offering onsite services, counseling, and queries from clients were set up by national government agencies such as Philippine Health Insurance Corporation, Philippine Postal Corporation, Department of Foreign Affairs, Bureau of Internal Revenue, Philippine Statistics Authority, Department of Trade and Industry, Technical Education and Skills and Development Authority, Social Security System, Pag-IBIG Fund, and National Bureau of Investigation.
DOLE also distributed P15,553,000 Tulong Panghanapbuhay sa ating Disadvantaged/Displaced Workers (TUPAD) assistance to 1,234 informal workers from 14 local government units in Silay City and two in Bacolod City. (With a report from DOLE-6)/PN
