8 Bacolod job order workers sacked

BACOLOD City – Eight city government job order workers at the Social Development Center in Barangay Singcang were removed from their posts.

Executive Assistant Sammy Montoyo bared irregularities at the facility built to protect and rehabilitate children in conflict with the law (CICL) and children at risk (CAR).

“Illegal drugs were coming in and out of the center, cellular phone rental, in-house prostitution, and allowing children to escape,” Montoyo said.

Such were all in violation of the center’s rules and regulations, Montoyo stressed.

At present, there are 35 CICL and CAR at the SDC – 19 of them face illegal drug charges, others were charged with robbery, murder, and attempted homicide, among others.

According to Montoyo, the job order workers were designated as houseparents at the center.

“Two of them are still working in the city but assigned now to other offices. The remaining six may possibly return to work by next month. They asked for consideration,” he explained.

Montoyo also said there is an ongoing evaluation on four regular city employees at the SDC following a complaint filed against them.

The city government allocated P2 million for the repair of SDC’s fence and additional Public Order and Safety Office personnel in the center.

Montoyo said that a P10-million budget was also allotted for the renovation of the center in 2020./PN
