BACOLOD City — The Police Regional Office 6 (PRO-6) has submitted to Mayor Monico Puentevella a list of eight nominees for Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO) officer-in-charge (OIC).

Chief Supt. Josephus Angan, police regional director, said the nominees are Senior Superintendents Edgardo Ordaniel, Iver Apellido, Pedrito Escarilla, Marianito Valerio, Marlon Ganzon, Gasmer Desumangco, Ren Darroca and Julius Laginit — all currently assigned at the PRO-6 in Camp Martin Delgado, Iloilo City.

Puentevella has not yet chosen from the list as of press time.

Whoever the mayor chooses will sit as OIC until Philippine National Police Director General Allan Purisima and the National Police Commission, through the Senior Officers Placement Board, confirm him as full-fledged police city director, Angan said.

Ordaniel was the BCPO OIC before he was replaced by Senior Supt. Larry Decena, who retired from the service last week.

Supt. Armando Tubongbanua, deputy BCPO director for administration, is acting as city police “caretaker.”

Among the nominees, Escarilla is said to be the frontrunner.

Escarilla had served as acting director of Aklan Police Provincial Office last year and head of the PRO-6 Regional Investigation and Detective Management Division in 2011./PN
