8 students hurt in pickup-truck collision

ILOILO City – Eight college students were hurt when the pickup they were riding crashed against a truck in Barangay Balabag, Pavia, Iloilo.

Confined in the Western Visayas Medical Center in Mandurriao district after the Friday night crash were:

* Anjanette Jasa, 15, of Barangay Pagsanga-an, Pavia

* Zelbert Jacbang, 25, of Barangay Tacas, Jaro district

* Jean Cabucos, 21, of Dumangas town

* Angel Love Labrador, 21, of New Lucena town

* Angelito Soliga, 19, of Pavia

Marvin Suamaba and JR Siaci were taken to the West Visayas State University Medical Center in Jaro while pickup driver Lance Allan Caborobias was rushed to the Iloilo Doctors’ Hospital in Molo.

The victims – all students of St. Therese-MTC Colleges in the city – sustained head and body injuries, police said.

The pickup crashed against the rear of the preceding truck at around 10 p.m., according to Pavia police station traffic investigator Victor Laña.

Truck driver Eduard Musong of Barangay Lanit, Jaro was trying to turn left but Caborobias failed to notice his signal, Laña said.

The victims sustained minor injuries, said the traffic investigator.
