81K Aklan residents fully vaccinated vs COVID-19

KALIBO, Aklan – Almost 19 percent of the eligible population in the province of Aklan has been fully vaccinated against coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19), the Department of Health (DOH) said.

The vaccination started in March with healthcare workers first, then expanded to senior citizens and persons with comorbidities. But supply shortages slowed down the vaccination.

In total, 81,281 of 427,664 target population – 18 years old and above – received their second dose of Sinovac, AstraZeneca, Pfizer, Moderna, and Gamaleya vaccines or a shot of the single-dose  Jannsen vaccine.

DOH Region 6 said about 87.11 percent or 13,635 healthcare workers have been fully inoculated, while 16,582 or 105.93 percent got their first jab.

So far, 27,494 senior citizens or 43.54 percent have also competed their vaccination while 32,336 or 51.21 percent is partly vaccinated.

For adult with comorbidities, 21,885 or 54.87 percent had their second dose, while 31,141 or 78.07 percent are waiting for their second jabs.

Also, 17,609 or 9.12 percent of eligible economic frontliners were already fully vaccinated, while 39,630 or 20.53 percent had their first dose.

Indigent population of 888 or 1.56 percent also received their first dose, the Regional Vaccination Operations Center said./PN
