ILOILO City – Another batch of drug dependents – a total of 82 – from the waterfront area will undergo rehabilitation in Camp Delgado, the headquarters of the Police Regional Office 6 (PRO-6).
Their rehabilitation will be for two months, said Chief Superintendent Jose Gentiles, regional police director.
The drug dependents are from the villages of Concepcion, Rizal Ibarra, Zamora, Duran, Sto. Rosario, and Dela Rama surrounding Camp Delgado.
Of 82, five are females, said Gentiles.
“This is a continuing project of the PRO-6. We are calling other drug personalities to trust the police,” Gentiles said.
Rehabilitation sessions are conducted four hours a day from Monday to Friday, 5:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. at the Camp Delgado Chapel and whole day during Saturdays.
On Oct. 31, the first batch of rehabilitated drug dependents completed the program administered by the Sobering Our Barangay and Empowering Recovery (SOBER) Intervention Team, a community-based rehabilitation treatment designed by Recovery Program Foundation, Inc. based in Cagayan de Oro City.
Gentiles hopes to rehabilitate all the 18,621 drug surrenderees across the region. But PRO-6, he said, is starting with those from this city.
Drug surrenderees here reached 2,300 already, PRO-6 data showed.
“We are willing to help them change their lives for the better,” said Gentiles./PN
