ILOILO City – With the coronavirus disease 2019 pandemic still affecting this city, the traditional sporting events in relation to the 84th Charter Day celebration go virtual this year.
There will be six sporting competitions, and these will be posted on social media, according to Rudiver Jungco, Sr., the executive assistant for youth and sports of this city.
Three events are slated on Aug. 20 in the Virtual Arnis “Anyo” Competition, Virtual Skateboarding Competition (firing line, skateboarding photo contest), and Virtual BMX Competition.
On Aug. 25, there will be Virtual Taekwondo Speedkicking Tournament, Online Chess Tournament, and Esports Festival Finals.
“Ilonggos are known for being creative and skillful in sports. This is why we want to continue to provide a platform for them to show what they have got despite facing challenges,” said Jungco.
Meanwhile, two music events in Uswag Open Style Virtual Competition will be on Aug. 20. The Padayon sa Pag Uswag Virtual Hip Hop Songwriting Competition is set on Aug. 25./PN
