85% of WV cops willing to be vaccinated

ILOILO City – About 85 percent of the total number of personnel of the Police Regional Office 6 (PRO-6) are willing to be vaccinated against coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).

In a March 7 survey conducted by the police, out of 13,602 respondents, a total of 8,675 (63.77%) personnel said they were willing to be inoculated with any vaccine brand; 2,924 (21.49%) were also willing but with their own choice of brand; and 2,003 (14.72%) were still undecided.

PRO-6 has a total of 13,606 personnel.

However, Police Lieutenant Colonel Joem Malong, PRO-6 spokesperson, said there were no vaccines available for the police yet.

“As soon as the vaccine becomes available, we are willing to submit ourselves for vaccination,” Malong said. “[This is] for our protection since we are dealing with other people, and also for our family.”

In another development, some 2,678 personnel were already deployed to areas in Western Visayas to provide security during the delivery of vaccines./PN
