ILOILO City – Police arrested nine people allegedly engaged in illegal cockfighting in Barangay Baldoza, La Paz district.
Detained at the La Paz police station were:
* Boni Young, 33, of Barangay Baldoza, La Paz
* June Bungat, 22, and Roman John De Leon, 30, of Barangay Caingin, La Paz
* Joseph Janeo, 36, Paul Candid Mendroso, 21, Julius Janeo, 30, Joshua Janeo, 20, Francisco Ignalaga, 32, and Mark Anthony, 28, all of Barangay Gustilo, La Paz
Officers caught them holding the blood sport in Baldoza at around 2:50 p.m. on Sunday. Two fighting cocks and P890 worth of bet money were recovered from them.
Police said they may be charged with violation of Presidential Decree 449./PN
