NINE Western Visayas-based teams are set to compete in the women’s and men’s events of the 2019 Beach Volleyball Republic on Tour Dumaguete leg today until tomorrow at the Rizal Boulevard sand court in Dumaguete City.
Alexa Polidario and Erjane Magdato of University of Negros Occidental-Recoletos will try to defend their Dumaguete leg championship against 11 other pairs in the women’s division.
Other WV-based women’s team were Smash Bacolod’s Bianca Lizares and Jennifer Cosas, University of St. La Salle’s Nohlin Jundana and Ceejay Recayo, Sipalay City’s Jesalen Moises and Gelamie Villanueva and Ilongga Roma Joy and Roma Mae Doromal of NU-Boysen.
Also set to compete in the stacked women’s event were Negrense Bea Tan and Dij Rodriguez of Perlas Lady Spikers and Negrense MJ Ebro and Derie Virtusio of University of Santo Tomas.
Four WV-based teams were part of the men’s team in Colegio de San Agustin-Bacolod’s Marvin Haresco and Mike Anton Beronio, USLS-Bacolod’s Herold Parcia and Deanne Neil Depedro, Bacolod’s Christian Marcelino and Simon Aguillon and Gandang Laban’s Rawsa Inaudito and Nichol Jundana.
“As a firm believer that sports is a great equalizer and unifier, I hope that the hosting of the BVR leg will solidify the city’s status as the sports tourism capital in the central Philippines,” said Dumaguete Mayor Felipe Antonio Remollo.
After the Dumaguete leg, the BVR on Tour will hold its fifth leg in Lingayen, Pangasinan on April 30 to May 1./PN
