The tree planting was done in Barangay Cabugao, Ibajay, Aklan.
There were 259 volunteers from national government agencies and other organizations in the province like the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA), Philippine National Police (PNP) Ibajay, Aklan State University (ASU) Ibajay Campus, Community Defense Unit (CDU), Municipal Environment and Natural Resources (MENRO) Ibajay, Engineering Brigade, riders and vloggers.

The theme of this year’s Environment Month celebration is “Aksyon Para sa Natatanging Mundo.”
Another activity spearheaded by PENRO early this month to protect the Earth was a coastal cleanup with volunteers from the MENRO of New Washington town and volunteers from Barangay Lalab, Batan, Aklan.
The activity was in celebration of World Environment Day with the theme “Only One Earth.”
The coastal clean-up, conducted at the downstream of Jal-o River in New Washington and Batan, Aklan, netted a total of 410 kilograms of solid wastes composed of plastics, PET bottles, fishing nets, rubbers, styrofoams, slippers, sanitary pads, glass bottles, rusted metals and PVC pipes.
At the clean-up activity, PENRO-Aklan head Merlene Aborka gave a brief orientation on the significance of World Environment Day, the value of natural resources, and the proper disposal of wastes.
“Everyone must be involved in making an action to protect and conserve the environment for the present and future generation,” Aborka told the volunteers. (PIA-Aklan/PN)
