ILOILO City ā Five police officers in Calinog, Iloilo were acknowledged for their quick response during an incident test as part of a spot inspection of the National Police Commission (Napolcom) Region 6.
Senior Inspector Kennith Bermejo, municipal police chief; Police Officers 3 Nelson Dumaguit and Albert Cardora;and Police Officers 2 Vincent Gascon and Alejandro CastaƱeda received certificates of recognition.
In Iloilo province, only the Calinogpolice station had such quick response that Napolcom conducted during a surprise inspection on Feb. 23, said Napolcom spokesperson Allen Camering.
āWe called their hotline and told them there was a stabbing incident at the poblacion,āCamering said. āTheyresponded four minutes despite the bad weather.ā
Regional Director Marte Palomar led the awarding ceremony at the Napolcom regional office.
Bermejo thanked Napolcom for recognizing their efforts.
He told Panay NewsĀ he was in court attending a hearing when Napolcom informed him there was stabbing.
āI didnāt know it was only a drama,ā said Bermejo. āWhatās on my mind was to arrest the suspect and know that status of the victim.ā
At their station, Bermejo said he scolded his men when he learned that they were unable to locate the crime scene.
āI got angry,ā he said. āSabikosakanilaitās impossible nahindiniyomakita. I later learned that it was staged by Napolcom.ā/PN
