CEBU City – Road rage suspect David Lim Jr. on Thursday posted bail of P144,000 and was ordered released by a local court.
The City Prosecutor’s Office recommended a P24,000 bail for the frustrated homicide charge and another P120,000 for illegal possession of ammunition charge.
Regional Trial Court Judge Ricky Jones Macabaya ordered Lim’s release.
A scion of a wealthy family, Lim was accused of shooting 33-year-old nurse Ephraim Nuñal after a traffic altercation.
A video of the Sunday, March 19 incident was caught on video that went viral on social media.
Lim turned himself in to the police and was detained on Tuesday through an arrangement made by presidential aide Christopher Go.
Police originally filed frustrated murder charges against Lim.
But Assistant Prosecutor Ma. Theresa Casiño downgraded the case to frustrated homicide sans proof to support the claim that Lim was treacherous in shooting Nuñal on the left thigh and right ankle.
The video showed Lim confronting Nuñal before going back to his car to get a firearm and shoot the latter three times. Lim and girlfriend Tamae Takahashi then left on board his Mercedes Benz.
Lawyer Jun Salatandre said Lim was just defending himself. He said the video was cut short to make his client appear guilty. (With Adrian Stewart Co, Inquirer.net and ABS-CBN News/PN)
