ILOILO City – A village watchman was shot in Barangay Pulo Maestravita, Oton, Iloilo.
The 52-year-old Paquito Quintos, 52, died of gunshot wounds in the stomach and back.
The suspect was Joebert Marmolejo, a relative. As of this writing, his whereabouts were unknown.
The shooting happened around 5:45 p.m. on March 24. Quintos was binge drinking with friend Romeo Biñas in a vacant lot.
Marmolejo fled after the shooting, according to Chief Inspector Alejandro Apostol, Oton police chief.
A .45 pistol was used on Quintos.
“We’re still investigating what really triggered the shooting. There’s no record in our office or barangay council that the two had a misunderstanding,” said Apostol.
The suspect ran a business at the Iloilo Terminal Market./PN
