ILOILO City – A farmer suffering from a nervous breakdown hacked his younger brother to death in Barangay Domingo, Sara, Iloilo.
The police arrested and detained Antonio Acosta, 57, at the municipal police station.
Acosta used a bolo to attack his brother Russel, 45.
The hacking happened around 2 a.m. on March 31 at the nipa hut of the Acostas, said Police Officer 2 Renel Panes.
Prior to the hacking, the brothers had a drinking binge.
Russel was sleeping when he was hacked, said Panes.
It was Antonio himself who alerted his wife about his dead brother around 7 a.m. after waking up. But he claimed not having any recollection of the hacking.
Still, he believed he did it and was willing to face the consequences, said Panes.
“We are preparing a homicide charge against Antonion,” added Panes.
Russel died of multiple hack wounds on the head and body./PN
