ILOLILO City – Two cellphones seized during an antidrug operation in La Paz district proved that some use the short messaging system (text messaging) to close drug deals, police said.

In Barangay Burgos, La Paz four drug suspects were arrested on March 28. Aside from five sachets of shabu, two cellphones were recovered.

Citing the text messages stored in the phones, Senior Inspector Rey Sumagaysay, La Paz police chief, said the four suspects were contacting each other.

“Kilalahay sila nga apat. Ang baligyaanay (shabu) subong mobile,” said Sumagaysay.

The following suspects were taken to the La Paz police station: Raymart Chicano, Jomarie Usalia, Kenth Aquilisca, and RovimilI Gona.

Chicano was the subject of the buy-bust operation but was with the three others while transacting with an undercover police officer.

Sumagaysay said Chicano previously surrendered to the La Paz police station in line with the Oplan Double Barrel of the Philippine National Police against illegal drugs.

The four suspects face a charge for violation of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002./PN
