MANILA – Ateneo Lady Eagles’ Jhoanna Maraguinot and De La Salle University Lady Spikers’ Kim Dy will both be suiting up in their crucial match in the UAAP Season 79 women’s volleyball tournament on Saturday.
Lady Eagles assistant coach Sherwin Meneses said that the rising star Maraguinot is not nursing any injuries and was just rested in their straight set win over the University of the East Lady Warriors last Sunday.
“Actually pwede naman siyang maglaro pero nag-decide lang siguro si coach Tai (Bundit) na pagpahingahin muna pero sa ensayo parehas lang yung ginagawa nya,” Meneses said.
“Wala naman (sakit at injury), talagang rest lang, syempre importante talaga yang makapag-rest kahit konti especially our next game is against De La Salle,” Meneses added.
Dy, who suffered an ankle injury two weeks ago, was also rested during the Lady Spikers’ sweep over the Adamson University Lady Falcons and is ready to be back against the Lady Eagles.
“Super excited at gigil and at the same time, siyempre may pwede kaming ihugot, yung talo namin ng round one. Yung week before the Ateneo game, dun talaga kami pu-push kung hangga’t sa kaya namin,” said Dy.
“Siyempre gustong maging number one. Iyun yung goal namin. Advantage din yun pag number one ka. Makukuha rin namin yung confidence namin if we win the game,” she added.
Both the Lady Eagles and the Lady Spikers have already secured the two twice-to-beat advantages in the semifinals and the upcoming matches is just for the top seed with both teams tied at 11-2./PN
