18 capitol workers only have more than a week

BACOLOD City — Eighteen provincial capitol employees who will be laid off in view of the reorganization only have until Aug. 22, said Provincial Administrator Enrique Pinongan.

Their notices of termination have been served last month yet, Pinongan said.

Some P12.2 million has been allotted for their separation pay (P9.667 million) and termination benefits (P2.535 million).

Affected by the reorganization were:

  • two sports and games inspectors
  • a bookbinder and a driver at the Provincial Library Services Division
  • two bookbinders at the Assessor’s Office
  • seven cooperative specialists from the Provincial Cooperative Office
  • a supervising cooperative development specialist and two ticket checkers at the Panaad Park and Stadium
  • a clerk; and
  • a utility worker.

Under the capitol reorganization, 372 new positions were created while 106 positions were abolished.

Some P127.495 million was allotted for the new positions.

Among the new positions, 353 were under the general fund (P121.649 million) and 19 under the Economic Enterprise Development Division, or EEDD (P5.846 million).

Of the abolished positions, 91 were under the general fund and 15 under the EEDD./PN
