ILOILO – Fire razed a house and four business establishments on Roosevelt Street at the poblacion in Santa Barbara town yesterday.
Fire investigators estimated the cost of damage at around P1 million.
The Sirilan and Delgado families’ house and Ram’s Pizza and Pasta, Balamban Lechon Manok, Aqot Law Office, and Reniel Sean Beauty Parlor were gutted, Fire Officer 2 Rey Tabudlong told Panay News.
Investigation continues. The Bureau of Fire Protection has yet to determine what caused the fire and where it started.
Tabudlong said the house and the business establishments were made of light materials.
A tricycle driver called the fire station around 2:20 a.m.
The blaze was put “under control” around 3 a.m. A “fire out” was declared around 3:50 a.m.
“Mag-‘under control’ na ina, indi na ina maglapta kag magdako ang kalayo. Mga isa man ka oras antes nag-‘under control,’” Tabudlong explained.
Firefighters from the nearby municipalities of Pavia and Cabatuan responded, too.
It was the third fire that occurred in Santa Barbara since the start of the year, Tabudlong said./PN
