ILOILO City – With the theme “Sa Sports may Medalya, Sikwayon and Droga,” the Iloilo City Sports Council is offering a free summer sports clinic for children aged 12 years old and below, from April 17 to 23.
“During summer, our children don’t have classes. We will introduce to them our sports clinic. They can learn various disciplines, develop their physical prowess and practice a lot of core values,” said Rommel Castro, head of City Sports Development Division.
Citing a study, Castro said children engaged in sports are less likely to drop out of school and less likely to get involved in illegal drugs.
On the first day, parents can bring their children in their respective district plazas for registration or they can ask for registration form from their barangay captains, Castro said.
The sports clinic is available in all districts from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. and at SM City Iloilo during mall hours.
There are 10 sports events to choose from. These are the following:
* basketball
* arnis
* volleyball
* taekwondo
* wushu
* football
* tennis
* table tennis
* chess, and
* jui-jitsu. (Iloilo City PIO/PN)
