PATNONGON, Antique – A couple soon supposed to get married soon died in a vehicular crash on Maundy Thursday.
The crash around 1:30 p.m. on the national highway in Barangay Magsaysay instantly killed the 34-year-old Alexander Abao of Barangay Concepcion, Belison town, police said.
Abao’s fiancée, the 37-year-old teacher Joy Julao of Barangay Magsaysay, died hours after she was taken to a hospital.
A Toyota Innova driven by Junie Sabusap, 44, of Barangay Catmon, Sibalom crashed into the couple’s tricycle parked on the roadside, investigation showed.
The couple had multiple injuries, according to Senior Inspector Bryan Alamo, information officer of the Antique Police Provincial Office.
They were giving out wedding invitations at the time, it was learned. It was not clear as of press time when their wedding will be.
Sabusap, chief social insurance officer of PhilHealth-Antique, is in municipal police custody.
He is facing charges for reckless imprudence resulting to multiple homicide and damage to property./PN
