BACOLOD City – This city and the municipality of Manapla in Negros Occidental were hailed champions of this year’s Panaad Festival rondalla competition at the Panaad Stadium.
The contest was divided into two categories – open and elementary.
Bacolod City topped the elementary category while Manapla won in the open category.
Each group performed the contest piece, Dalawidaw as determined by the festival’s Rondalla Committee and one music piece of their choice.
In the open category, Bacolod City and Pulupandan ranked second and third, respectively; while the municipalities of Manapla and Valladolid bagged the second and third prizes, respectively, in the elementary category.
The first placer for the open category received P20,000; the second placer, P12,000; and the third placer, P8,000.
On the other hand, the first placer in the elementary category received P25,000; second placer, P15,000; and third placer, P8,000.
All winners also received trophies and certificates. (Capitol News/PN)
