ILOILO City – The Department of Education’s (DepEd) Private Education Assistance Committee (PEAC) is reopening the application for the Senior High School (SHS) Voucher Program from today until May 15.
According to DepEd regional information officer Lea Belleza, the reopening of application aims to give private school Grade 10 completers who missed the deadline for online application in February 2017 a chance to avail themselves of the voucher for school year 2017-2018.
The private school Grade 10 completers must not be Educational Service Contracting (ESC) grantees.
The SHS Voucher Program aims to make basic education accessible and affordable for Filipino learners nationwide.
It provides a subsidy for Grade 10 completers who wish to pursue SHS education in private schools, universities, and colleges, local or state universities and colleges, and technical and vocational institutions offering SHS.
Beginning today, all applications must be strictly done online by accessing PEAC’s Online Voucher Application Portal (OVAP) at http://ovap.deped.gov.ph.
Manual applications will not be processed.
Applications will be accepted only until May 15 and the deadline will not be extended. Results will be announced on May 31.
Grade 10 completers in public schools and Grade 10 completers in private schools who are ESC grantees are automatically qualified voucher recipients and do not need to apply.
The voucher subsidy is not given to students directly in the form of cash but will be disbursed by DepEd to the non-DepEd SHS where he or she enrolls.
As of December last year, DepEd registered a total of 607,129 Voucher Program beneficiaries (VPBs), or Grade 11 students enrolled in non-DepEd schools who received financial assistance through the voucher subsidy.
Concerns and queries regarding the SHS Voucher Program may be directed to the DepEd Public Assistance Action Center (PAAC) at (02) 636-1663 or (02) 633-1942, or through action@deped.gov.ph. (DepEd, PIA-6/PN)
