BEFORE anyone gets confused or comes to the wrong conclusion, let’s make this clear: we are talking about Maria Ressa, not Maria Ozawa or Maria Sharapova. And also to be clear, Maria Ressa is the complete opposite of the other two Marias, particularly in beauty, body and sex appeal.
It defies logic and reason why anyone in his right mind would ever think of raping Rappler founder and CEO Maria Ressa unless one has a thing for adolescent boys. When moi first saw Maria Ressa on television I thought it was a 12-year-old boy auditioning for Eat Bulaga.
I never imagined she was a television news reporter, let alone an adult woman. Her squeaky voice that sounded like she was high on helium gas didn’t help her either. I must say this Maria Ressa has absolutely no sex appeal whether as an adult woman or a 12-year-old boy.
For the past week particularly in social media reports, news and comments have been flooding the internet regarding her interview in a radio station in Vancouver, Canada wherein she claimed she has been receiving rape threats, take note, and death threats.
In that interview Maria Ressa said she gets 90 rape and death threats every hour for an entire month and that translates to 64,800 threats, assuming that a month has 30 days.
Here are excerpts from the April28 article concerning that “rape “threat on FilipNews which was based on a post in the Asian Policy Website:
Jojo Robles, a columnist, shared on his Facebook account that his friend living abroad heard the CEO of the number one social news website Maria Ressa being interviewed in a local radio program in Vancouver, Canada.
In his post, Jojo Robles shared the information gave to him by his friend and he said that Ressa shared in the local radio program how hard it is to become the target of the pro-Duterte supporters.
In the radio program, Ressa narrated how Sen. Leila de Lima was stripped of dignity and how the pro-Duterte blogger Mocha Uson spread hate speech and threats against her.
Because of the power of Mocha Uson on social media Ressa said she received 90 rape and death threats per minute on the internet, that’s 129,600 a day.
But several pro-Duterte bloggers said the claims of Ressa are impossible.
The claim of the friend of Robles is not yet verified.

Rape is a very serious matter. To joke about it is not only in poor taste but totally despicable. To even announce on the media that one is receiving 90 rape threats every hour is below poor taste and preposterous.
But that does not seem to be the case with Maria Ressa. She wore the 90 rape threats per hour with pride and considers it a testament to her being a desirable female of the specie.
Good God! If the sight of Leila “frailties of a woman” de Lima in a bikini was enough to make grown men ran away in sheer horror, just imagine seeing Maria Ressa naked.
The image of a naked Maria Ressa will drive most grown men insane and that vision will be forever tattooed in your consciousness, giving one uncontrollable fits of hysterical insanity.
Perhaps if raping Maria Ressa would be akin to a suicide bomber blowing himself up so that so-called martyr can be rewarded with 72 virgins waiting for him in paradise, then perhaps there would be someone stupid enough to rape her.
And speaking of these 72 virgins in paradise, are they female or male depending on the suicide martyr’s sexual preference? It would be awkward if the suicide martyr is gay and he finds 72 female virgins waiting for him.
On Maria Ressa announcing on a radio interview that she receives 90 rape threats every hour, I can only speculate as to why she said it: One, she’s delusional and believes that she is a sexy sultry vamp desired by all hot-blooded males and two, nobody reads Rappler anymore and she needs to create some kind of controversy to try to get people’s attention to Rappler.
As a parting shot, I heard – but I have not confirmed – that Maria Ressa is married. If so, then the guy deserves a Medal of Honor, the Legion of Honor for bravery above and beyond the call of duty. (brotherlouie16@gmail.com/PN)
