MANILA – Senators belonging to the opposition Liberal Party shared how detained senator Leila de Lima spends her time inside her detention cell at the Philippine National Police Custodial Center in Camp Crame.

Senate Minority Leader Franklin Drilon and senators Risa Hontiveros, Francis Pangilinan and Antonio Trillanes IV on Sunday morning paid de Lima a visit to check on her condition.

“She’s okay naman. She’s in high spirits. There was a girly talk between senators de Lima and Hontiveros,” Drilon said.

Hontiveros shared that de Lima spends most of her time reading the Bible and the news, exercising, and eating at the right time.

Kahit papaano sinusubaybayan niya ang mga balita na hatid ninyo. Kaya siya rin ay nakakapagpahayag ng kaniyang posisyon sa ilan sa mga current issues,” according to the senator.

Pangilinan, for his part, said the former Justice secretary is now less stressed because she was forced to live without gadgets like cell phones and laptops.

Dumarating lang daw ang stress niya kapag nababasa niya ang diyaryo,” the Liberal Party president said.

De Lima, a staunch critic of President Rodrigo Duterte’s war on drugs, was arrested and detained for drug trafficking./PN
