BACOLOD City – Another motorcycle crash in Silay City, Negros Occidental killed the driver and injured the back-riders.
Robert Mejica, 41, of Barangay Guimbala-on, Silay City was driving the Honda XRM 125.
He and Rico Purdadera, 23, and Joey Atienza, 24 — both of Barangay Mambulac, also in Silay — were bound for the city proper when they crashed into a cargo truck around 5 p.m. on Thursday in Guimbala-on, said Police Officer 3 Augusto Abao, traffic investigator.
Mejica was declared “dead on arrival” at the Teresita Jalandoni Memorial Provincial Hospital. Purdadera and Atienza were taken to the same hospital.
The 60-year-old Mario Lachica of Barangay Guimbala-on, Silay City was driving the truck.
Around 7:10 a.m. of the same day, two motorcycles collided into each other at an intersection in Barangay Bagtic.
The drivers — 49-year-old William Gaspejo of Barangay Guimbala-on and 19-year-old Jocel Jabonillo of EB Magalona town — died./PN
