ILOILO City – St. John Institute (Hua Ming) from Bacolod City continued its unbeaten run to move closer to a quarterfinals seat in the ongoing 2017 Isuzu 17 and under Girls’ Volleyball League on Monday at the Ateneo de Iloilo Gymnasium.
Led by the towering presence of Angel Canino, St. John’s Institute tallied its third victory by sweeping Pavia to remain at first place in Bracket A with a 3-0 win-loss record.
Sta. Barbara, meanwhile, maintained its hold on the top spot of Bracket B with a 2-1 win-loss slate after scoring an easy victory over the debuting Fort San Pedro National High School.
Over at the Bracket C, Central Philippine University and La Paz National High School remain tied on top with at the 2-0 mark with victories over the Barangay Block 17 and Hua Siong, respectively.
In Bracket D action, Bacolod Tay Tung High School is still on top in the standings with a 2-0 win-loss slate following wins over Ioilo National High School (25-7, 25-12) and Passi (25-7, 25-8).
Meanwhile, action shifts to the Iloilo Doctos College Gymnasium today with Barangay Black 17 facing Hua Siong at 8 a.m., Sta. Barbara battling the University of San Agustin at 9 a.m., and Ramon Avanceña National High School versus Pavia melee at 10 a.m.
In the afternoon session, Fort San Pedro National High School faces Iloilo City National High School at 1 p.m., Central Philippine University against Hua Siong at 2 p.m. and Ateneo De Iloilo takes on University of the Philippines High School in Iloilo at 3 p.m.
