THE ONSLAUGHT of “yellow ribbon devotees” against President Rodrigo Duterte has been relentless. They have been throwing everything at him including the proverbial kitchen sink and more, even including the septic tank. Unfortunately for them, and fortunately for us particularly the 21 million that voted him to the presidency, they all failed.
The latest Social Weather Stations or SWS survey, the third if I’m not mistaken since Rodrigo Duterte became president, showed a high of more than 80 percent of the natives of these islands a.k.a. Filipinos support him and his programs of government. Of course, the idiots of the “yellow ribbon devotees” refuse to accept that as they believe that only the fruit of the loins of “Saint Cory” and “Hero Ninoy” Aquino is fit to be the President of these islands. So I guess we’re looking at either Kris or Joshua after that nincompoop Noynoy.
Meanwhile, the profiteers of the “yellow ribbon devotees” may not like the result of the surveys but they know that it is true and that President Rodrigo Duterte is here to stay for six long years. And during those six years he will expose and have them pay for the corruption and plunder they did during the presidency of Noynoy Aquino. Hence these unrelenting efforts to vilify locally and internationally President Rodrigo Duterte are happening with the sole purpose of bringing him down.
Fortunately for the country and unfortunately for them, all their champions and tactics miserably failed. First we have the “dynamic duo” of Leila “frailties of a woman” de Lima and that coward Antonio Trillanes resulting into the Edgar Matobato and Arthur Lascañas “love team” which, of course, failed to even interest the natives.
We all know it ended up with Leila “frailties of a woman” de Lima in jail not for shagging her driver but for going to bed with the drug lord both literally and figuratively, while Antonio Trillanes became the joke that is not funny of the alumnus of the Philippine Military Academy.
The “barefoot lady of Naga” Leni Robredo failed to achieve interest and support despite her “trying hard” attempts to portray herself as a “damsel in distress.” She ended up making a fool of herself.
Perhaps the only interest she was able to stir from the natives is that if she really is shagging Cong. Bolet Banal or he is really just her hairdresser with overzealous hands.
With all that resources from the illegal DAP (Disbursement Acceleration Fund) and PDAF (Priority Development Assistance Fund) including the diverted super typhoon “Yolanda” foreign financial aid, not to mention the contributions from “Lola Loida”, the “yellow ribbon devotees” are not about to give up, what with so much at stake i.e. the freedom of Noynoy, Butch, Leila, Franklin and the rest of the “fat cats.”
So they segued into using “lies and deceptions” via “human rights”, the one issue that never fails to bring a tear in the eyes of the “white man.” In what’s left of the European Union after Brexit and the United States of America, it is fashionable to fancy oneself as a “human rights advocate” whatever that means.
In his May 8 column in the Manila Times, Rigoberto Tiglao writes:
“In her speech at a Philippine Commission on Human Rights event last Friday, UN Special Rapporteur Agnes Callamard said: ‘In April 2016, the general assembly of the world’s government recognized explicitly that the war on drugs does not work.’
“She is lying. The United Nations General Assembly never made such a declaration, explicitly or implicitly.
“The UN General Assembly’s lengthy 11,000-word resolution (UN Document A/RES/S-30/1) issued April 19 entitled ‘Our joint commitment to effectively addressing and countering the world drug problem’ did not even use the term ‘war on drugs’, much less did it say it ‘doesn’t work.’
“The resolution in fact even recognized ‘tangible progress has been achieved’ as result of efforts of nations to combat the global drug problem. What the resolution highlighted in its first paragraphs was its concern that ‘the availability of internationally-controlled drugs for medical and scientific purposes, including for the relief of pain and suffering, remains low to non-existent in many countries of the world’ – a veiled reference to the growing lobby to legalize marijuana.
“Does this lady from New York think that Filipinos are so backward that they’ll be unable to access a UN document to fact-check her claim?”
And in a May 10 column in the Manila Times:
“Ironic as it may seem, it is Jose ‘Chito’ Gascon, the Commission on Human Rights chairman that President Benigno Aquino III appointed in June 2015, who has emerged as the biggest stumbling block to the development of institutions and a political culture that would defend human rights in this country.
“Gascon, the last straggler of the Yellow Party still in government, has politicized the issue of human rights in the Philippines, and has transformed it into a propaganda weapon against President Duterte. He is the very first CHR chairman since the agency’s establishment in 1987 to o so, to have adopted an openly belligerent stance against the incumbent administration.
“It was Gascon who invited UN Special Rapporteur Agnes Callamard to give a speech at the CHR’s anniversary event. Callamard has been so obnoxiously critical of the country’s war against drugs there is a tsunami of outrage against her. It was even the CHR that paid Callamard’s air fare and five-star accommodation.”
And with that I rest my case. Need moi say more? (brotherlouie16@gmail.com/PN)
