BACOLOD City – The Sangguniang Panlungsod (SP) wants to decongest one-way streets.

A solution the city councilors pitched to the office of Mayor Evelio Leonardia was the removal of trisikads.

Commercial spaces at the city proper were “almost fully occupied” due to the “influx of people” and the “favorable business atmosphere,” said Councilor Ricardo Tan.

This caused some streets to get congested and turn into a one-way passage for vehicles.

And trisikads were worsening the situation. In fact, the three-wheel vehicles were considered traffic hazards, Tan said.

While City Ordinance No. 270 series of 2000 regulates the operation of trisikads, the regulatory function was devolved to the barangay, he said. (Mae Singuay/PN)
