ILOILO City – A collector of Bong and Alice Merchandise and Homeware was robbed in Barangay Imbesad-an, San Enrique, Iloilo.

According to Gregorio Garcia, 54, the lone robber had a gun and took his daily collection amounting to P20,000 on Wednesday.

The robbery was carried out around 12:40 p.m., said Garcia, a resident of Barangay Bayan, Passi City.

The robber also took his cellular phone and wallet containing P500, he told the police.

According to Senior Inspector Norbert Sepole, San Enrique police chief, the robber used Garcia’s motorcycle as getaway vehicle.

The San Enrique police recovered the abandoned motorcycle in a village near Barangay Imbesad-an.

“I have a standing instruction to all collectors entering our area of responsibility to log-in first at the police station so we can provide them with security and avoid being robbed. The victim failed to log-in,” said Sepole.

Bong and Alice Merchandise and Homeware was based in Barangay Cubay, Jaro, Iloilo City.

Sepole said his men already identified a suspect and a manhunt was launched.

The suspect did not have a criminal record in San Enrique but has a robbery case in Passi City, said Sepole./PN
