ILOILO City – The Public Employment Service Office (PESO) of the city government has generated a total of 2,528 local and overseas jobs in the first four months of the year.
A total of 1,232 local jobs were made available in January; 301 in February; 653 in March; and 342 in April.
“Mayor Jed Patrick Mabilog wants to provide opportunities to our jobseekers that is why we are really doing our job to reach out to them,” said PESO head Ma. Elena Benitez.
She added that among the in-demand local jobs are cashiers, baggers, and merchandisers, while for abroad are nurses and waitresses.
PESO conducts regular job fairs including at Quezon Hall of West Visayas State University (WVSU) on Jan. 26; Seafarer’s Job Fair at Metro Supermarket Atria from Feb. 16 to 17; STI College Job Fair on March 3; St. Therese Job Fair on March 9; and Iloilo City Community College Job Fair at the Diamond Jubilee Hall March 27.
