ILOILO City – A barangay tanod was found dead in Sitio Canhing, Barangay Jibolo, Janiuay, Iloilo around 5:30 a.m. yesterday.
Manuelito Almario, 46, had a gunshot wound on the chest and multiple hack wounds.
Policemen recovered the following from the area where Almario was found:
* a .22 revolver without serial number and with eight cartridges
* a magazine with eight live ammunitions for a .45 pistol
* one fired cartridge case of a .45 pistol
* one rubbed grip
* white cotton
* a stone with bloodstains
* three rubber slippers
The Janiuay police station was not ruling out anything in the investigation such as an old grudge, said Senior Inspector John Paul Guay, officer-in-charge.
Sometime ago, Almario pacified two quarreling men in the barangay and chided one of them for starting the trouble, said Guay.
But policemen were also considering other barangay tanods as persons of interest, said Guay.
Almario had a rift with two colleagues recently. Guay said the two could no longer be found in the village./PN
