ILOILO City – The Police Regional Office 6 (PRO-6) urged Barangay Captain Remia Prevendido Gregori of Bakhaw, Mandurriao district to present herself to the police for “biological” profiling.
Gregori is a sister of fugitive and suspected drug lord Richard Prevendido. The Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) Region 6 has classified her a “high-value target, level 2.”
“If Gregori refuses to surrender, we will subject her to an antidrug operation,” said Senior Superintendent Christopher Tambungan, PRO-6’s overall committee chairman on illegal drugs.
Gregori was one of the three barangay captains that the city council recently investigated for the continued proliferation of illegal drugs in their respective areas. The two others were Keith “Dabing” Espinosa of Monica-Blumentritt, City Proper and Noemi Jablo of Desamparados, Jaro.
“Hindi naman siya (Gregori) ide-detain kung pumunta sa police station. For records lang at kunan lang siya ng biological profile kasi required ‘yan eh,” said Tambungan.
Among others, she will be fingerprinted and photographed. She will also be made to submit an affidavit of undertaking pledging not to engage in drug trafficking.
Espinosa and Jablo already presented themselves to the police and denied being involved in illegal drugs. They were also classified a level 2 high-value targets.
PRO-6 director Chief Superintendent Cesar Hawthorne Binag said arrest of Prevendido and “all high-value (drug) targets” remains a priority.
PDEA believes family members know where suspected drug lord Prevendido is hiding.
Prevendido, a resident of Barangay Bakhaw, Mandurriao district, is currently in hiding. He has a warrant of arrest for violation of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
“Blood is thicker than water. Who else will protect him? Who will buy his food and other needs,” said Deputy Regional Director Levi Ortiz.
In previous radio interviews, Gregori claimed having no idea where her brother was.
Binag’s predecessor Chief Superintendent Jose Gentiles left Western Visayas failing to arrest Prevendido although under the former police director’s watch, the other PDEA-identified suspected drug lord, Melvin Odicta Sr., was killed by unidentified gunmen in Malay, Aklan in August last year.
PDEA’s Ortiz believed Prevendido has contact with his family and trusted friends.
“Those protecting Prevendido may be charged criminally with harboring a criminal,” he said. “It is impossible that his family and relatives have no contact with him.”
The city and provincial governments of Iloilo are offering a combined P1 million reward to whoever could give information leading to the successful arrest of the drug suspect.
Aided by close confidantes, Prevendido does not stay long in one place and takes taxis or drives his own car, sources told Panay News.
On Jan. 6, 2017 the Regional Trial Court, Branch 21 issued an arrest warrant against Prevendido for violation of Section 11 (possession of dangerous drugs) of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002. This case was in connection with the shabu recovered from Prevendido’s during a raid last October 2016.
Judge Daniel Antonio Gerardo Amular did not recommend a bail bond.
A lot of suspected members of the Prevendido drug group were caught in recent months, including the “high-value” Bonie Prevendido Gregori, Richard’s nephew and son of Remia./PN
