THE SURGICAL military airstrike killed our own soldiers. The strike was meant to help the ground forces to extricate themselves from a very dangerous situation. But it was a shame on the part of the military men (who had their trainings from the Americans, perhaps with the Chinese and with the Russians soon) to miss their target and kill their brethren.
While the entire Mindanao has been placed under martial law, the Maute group claiming to be ISIS-backed laughed their way to controlling armored tanks, holding hostages and killing many people including civilians; the Resorts World was burning, killing 37 people with a “lone wolf” terrorist attack. President Rodrigo Duterte does not believe it was the work of the terrorists. His men claimed otherwise. On the contrary, the US President concluded it was an act of terrorism.
Earlier, Trump said Iran was playing with fire after it fired a ballistic missile. Joma Sison of the left also claimed that Duterte was playing with fire when he placed Mindanao under martial law.
If we connect these with President Duterte’s visit to China and to Russia, we can hypothesize that more than staple food and basic commodities, we need more arms because we lack high-powered weapons, so we must purchase from “new friends.” We need more military trainings, and we also need to revive the Reserve Officers Training Corps. Let our sons and daughters and our reservist fathers or brothers prepare to go to war. Our “war” has just begun. Read reports on the unending killings and discoveries of tons of shabu; the killings, the fight against the Maute-ISIS in Mindanao.
Obviously, it shows that we need a militarized country. Wait for more. We are warned that martial rule under today’s administration shall be harsher than the previous one, and may stay longer covering the entire country.
We must be alarmed and vigilant. Ask ourselves, what is the blueprint of this administration?
We chose our leaders because of popularity and we expect one who shall act as a godfather of the family. Exercising pater familia, due diligence as demanded by real situation, and extraordinary caution in leading 100 million people, lest there shall be a pyrrhic victory. (delsocorrodaquila@gmail.com/PN)
