BACOLOD City – Three inmates escaped from the Metro Bacolod District Jail in Barangay Taculing.
The Bureau of Jail Management and Penology – Negros Island Region (BJMP-NIR) is conducting an investigation and manhunt operation.
Jail Superintendent Amelito Fuentes said the following fled around 11 a.m. on Saturday:
* Marlon Molina, 38, of Murcia, Negros Occidental
* Ebson Jaen, 36, of Bacolod City
* Noli Dega, 39, of Bacolod City
They jumped over the cyclone wire fence from the jail’s roof, investigation showed.
The fence was just a little over a meter high, Fuentes said.
On-duty jail officers failed to notice the inmates fleeing.
After 35 minutes, Jaen was arrested at a vacant lot outside the Bacolod City Police Office compound.
Fuentes said “recovery operations and monitoring are continuing.”
He did not name the jail guards on duty when the escape was carried out.
Investigators from the BJMP regional office were dispatched to investigate.
Molina was charged for robbery and violation of Republic Act 6539 or the Anti-Carnapping Act of 1972, while Jaen and Dega have pending cases for violations of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002./PN
