Â
ILOILO City â Fire struck two houses in Barangay Bakhaw, Mandurriao district.
One of them was abandoned. It was destroyed. The Bureau of Fire Protection identified the owner only as the âVillanueva family.â
An adjacent house owned by Melvin Villanueva was damaged.
It was not immediately clear whether or not Melvin Villanueva was related to the owner of the abandoned house.
No one got injured, firefighters said.
Resident Mia Vasquez called firefighters around 7:29 a.m. on Friday, City Fire Marshal Jerry Candido told Panay News.
Fire investigators have yet to determine the cause of the blaze but Candido said it started at the ceiling of the abandoned house.
The Villanueva family left the now abandoned house six months ago. Their neighbors do not know where they are, Candido said.
The cost of damage was pegged at around P200,000.
The fire was placed âunder controlâ around 7:40 a.m. A âfire outâ was declared around 8:01 a.m./PN
