BACOLOD City –The Bacolod Traffic Authority Office (BTAO) and the Land Transportation Office (LTO) have started enforcing City Ordinance No. 469 and Republic Act (RA) 10666 or the Children’s Safety on Motorcycles Act of 2015 yesterday.

The city ordinance prohibits children below seven years old from riding motorcycles, while RA 10666 prohibits any person from driving a motorcycle on public roads with a child below 18 years old.

BTAO head Superintendent Luisito Acebuche said 115 individuals were apprehended for violating the city ordinance.

The violators were mostly students.

Violators of the ordinance are issued traffic tickets or citations and a warning for the first offense. A fine of P100 and P500 will be imposed for second and third offense, respectively.

For RA 10666, violators are fined P3,000 for first offense; P5,000 for second offense; and P10,000 and a one-month suspension of driver’s license for third offense./PN
